4 years ago, we had a beta release of Workspaces. The purpose of Workspaces was to allow the connection of two or more completely independent accounts and to simplify user management across connected accounts. This functionality never became publicly available and was not worked on for several years. However, during this period, we've been working on an integration with Frontdoor - Apptio’s authentication and authorization service. Frontdoor replaces the functionality of Workspaces.
Starting from August 7, 2023, the support of the configuration of Workspaces will be discontinued.
What is Frontdoor?
Frontdoor is Apptio's authentication and authorization service. It's a powerful tool for managing users and their access rights to various Apptio applications and the environments they live in from a single interface.
Frontdoor allows users to log in, access Apptio applications, and navigate between them.
Administrators have the ability to:
- Create new Users and perform operations on those user accounts, such as: activating, deactivating, resetting passwords, etc.
- Grant or revoke access to different environments.
- Manage permissions for users in environments and the applications inside of them.
Frontdoor supports the integration with SAML 2.0 SSO providers. It allows configuring Users' login via the company's Identity Provider, the automatic provisioning of new Users, and setting default permissions based on a user's Role.
Previously it wasn't possible to get detailed access logs for an audit. With Frontdoor, Administrators can generate Audit Logs and Reports to track users' actions, such as logins, user creations and deletions, and permission changes within an environment.
