Solution Overview

The solution enables Blended Rates for Locations and Job ProfilesIt's used when you don't want to calculate estimated and forecasted costs using people salaries, but using a Blended Rate instead.  For example, you have 2 different Locations, where people are based, and 3 different Job Profiles, for which you'd like to set up Blended Rates. Then you'll have 6 Blended Rates (for each combination of a Location and a Job Profile) and will be able to define an Hourly Rate for each Blended Rate.

For each Location/Job Profile combination, a collection of Blended Rates will be created. You will set an Hourly Rate for each Blended Rate.

User Location

This solution enables the Location entity, allowing us to track which Locations (usually Countries) we have people. Every User in the system will be connected to a specific Location. This information will be used for capacity planning and cost calculation solutions.

When the solution is installed from the Solution Library, you'll see a list of Locations, where you will add all the Locations where you have people and will be able to connect people to the Locations created.

You'll also find a new filed Location on a User view. It'll define where a person is located.

Notes:

  • Any user can at any time only be connected to only one Location 
  • No history on past locations a user was connected to is recorded 

Job Family Structure and User Expertise (Skills)

The solution enables a structure of Job Families -> Job Profiles -> Expertise (Skill of a specific level needed for a Job Profile), as we as a possibility to define what Expertise people have. It can be used for hiring purposes, for defining the seniority level people can get when joining the company, and use this information for capacity planning.

After you install the solution from the Solution Library, you'll see a new Job Families and Skills folder in the left menu. First, you need to create a list of Skills used in your organization. You can do it from Skills List view.

Now on the Job Families and Profiles view we can introduce the hierarchy of Job Families -> Job Profiles -> Expertises. Job Profile Expertise represents a Skill needed for this Job Profile. Here you define what Experience Level is required,  if it's a Core Skill for this Job Profile and what level of this Skill is needed for each seniority level. Available Resources field will show how many people of this Job Profile you have in the company.

Note: Seniority levels are custom fields, so they can be adjusted based on your company seniority levels. Please keep in mind, that you'll need to adjust colored units with these values to keep them working.

For each User you can define their Job Profile, as well as create a list of Expertises a User has. User Expertise represents a Skill a person hasHere you define the Skill  Experience Level,  define if it's a Core Skill of this person and the level of the Skill.

Solution Configuration

Limited Access Portfolio

The solution requires to store the data in the limited access Portfolio (Project), so that the information is only available for individuals who needs to see this data. For that you need to create a Budgeting Portfolio. To do that: 

  • Create a new Portfolio (Project) 
  • Name it Budgeting
  • Copy the ID of this Portfolio, as it'll be required during the solution installation 

Note: From now on when you create a new Location or a Job Profile, the Blended Rates for the created Location and all the Job Profiles and vice versa will be created, so make sure you set the Hourly Rates for them. All you need is to define Hourly Rates for new Blended Rates created.
